Using AI to Enhance Video Production

We all know that AI is a “hot button” topic. It will replace jobs, render people useless. That’s one way of seeing it. However, I think the reality is in how you use it. For video production, AI opens worlds previously unobtainable for low-mid level production. It reminds me of my early career in the 1990’s, when “desktop video” came to fruition. Finally, video “more affordable.” Sound familiar? Fast forward to 2026. I have found myself using it on a few projects to do things unobtainable before–certainly in the budget of community based clientele. First–a video for my local area Chamber of Commerce–a promotional video. A combination of traditional video segments of their various events, put to a VO about their future direction, written by their video committee. AI VO to the rescue. What worked great with this, was the ability to create drafts for the committee, where they could hear the results, and make changes to the script accordingly. Easy enough to feed a new script to the AI to produce a new VO in the same style. Now to the rest of the video–several segments featuring still photos, like a slideshow. Let’s improve on this. Using some great tools from Artlist.io, let’s do subtle animation to those drab still photos, to make the video more engaging. This worked VERY well. It was not without having a learning experience, however. The reaction for some of the committee were–“my nose looks weird.” So–learned to have subtle photo animations keep faces looking straight. Makes perfect sense. The AI has to often make up a nose when turning people away from their main view. It might look fine–, but not accurate. Changed those photos. The result was an engaging video that flowed well, and didn’t show signs of “photo slide show.”
Next video–This is the third year of producing this town community Easter Egg Hunt. With doing so many videos of this type, a big challenge is how to make each year different with an event that is essentially the same.
So, for this year, I used my Panasonic AG-UX180 in slo-mo 120fps mode. When in this mode, it doesn’t record audio, so I did that externally with a Zoom Audio mic. In post I could speed it back up to normal speed to use some segments. For this one, I decided to try using AI production music from my Artlist.io subscription. First time doing this, but I thought it worked great! I prompted it to create music for a young kids Eater Egg Hunt in an open field, with colored eggs. The results were awesome! I still edited some of the songs down to cut out some lyrics that didn’t work, but still amazed how well it did this! Full video results below:
